Dr. Avinash Kumar
Consultant Interventional Radiologist, 12 years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology & 7 years of experience in Interventional Radiology.
I am a Diagnostic & Interventional Radiologist. Have done DNB in Radiodiagnosis, did senior Residency from the prestigious institute of CMC Vellore. Post residency I did Fellowship in Neuro & Vascular Interventional Radiology from KMCH, Coimbatore under the mentorship & guidance of one of the finest Interventional Radiologist of India, Dr. Mathew Cherian.
I have been trained to diagnose diseases using various imaging modalities like X-rays, Ultrasound, Doppler, fluoroscopy as well as using high end cross sectional imaging modalities like Computed Tomography (CT) & Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) studies. I have been thoroughly trained to diagnose the diseases and to do their treatments by performing minimal invasive or pin hole surgeries. This I do using various types of medical instruments like needles, guidewires, sheaths, catheters, balloons, stents as well as various types of embolising agents ( materials that occlude the bleeding vessels).
I can offer treatments of various varieties of diseases right from head to toe using these minimally invasive techniques. I have 12 years experience in Diagnostic Radiology & 7 years experience in Interventional Radiology. I have been offering my IR services in Patna from past 7 years and have performed various such complex procedures successfully!
What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology (IR) is a specialized field within radiology. In interventional radiology, doctors not only interpret your medical images, but they also perform minimally invasive surgical procedures through small incisions in the body.
In IR doctors use medical imaging to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures that diagnose, treat, and cure many kinds of conditions. Imaging modalities used include fluoroscopy, MRI, CT, and ultrasound.
Why Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology (IR) reduces cost, recovery time, pain, and risk to patients who would otherwise need traditional open surgery. Because of this, IR has become the primary way to treat many type of conditions. The treatments IR can effectively perform are ever-changing and expanding.
Did you know?
Interventional Radiologists make small incisions, usually in your abdomen, and use needles and catheters to treat conditions inside your body. Medical images are used to guide their catheters through your blood vessels, arteries and organs.

Why choose Interventional Radiology Services for your next treatment?
Angioplasty – repair or unblocking of blood vessels
Stenting – small mesh tubes that treat narrow or weal arteries
Thrombolysis – dissolving blood clots
Embolization – block blood flow to cancer cells
Radiofrequency Ablation – used to reduce nerve pain
Biopsies – studies of tissues
